Honda, driven by “The Power of Dreams,” has researched, developed, and tested its new Type R vehicle — where the “R” stands for “rocket.” Honda’s research and development subsidiary has successfully conducted Japan’s first vertical takeoff and landing test of a reusable rocket at its research facility in Hokkaido.

The rocket, also known as a Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV), measures over 6 meters in length, 85 centimeters in width, and weighs 900 kilograms.
On this thrilling test flight, Honda’s RLV soared to a height of nearly 300 meters, powered by liquid fuel.

Honda did not disclose how much rocket propellant was consumed or how hot the combustion temperatures reached, but it’s safe to assume the answers are “a lot” and “immensely.”
